YouTube Music gets Voice Control with Gemini Extension

As announced at I/O 2024, Google is now widely rolling out the YouTube Music Gemini Extension, which brings basic phone assistant functionality to the mobile app.

You can visit gemini.google.com/extensions to activate the extension for YouTube Music. The extension allows you to use voice commands to control YouTube Music on your phone. You can play songs, artists, playlists, and radio stations. It can also find music based on genre or lyrics. In the future, there will be Gemini Extensions for other Google apps like Calendar and Keep.

  • Show some rock music
  • Turn on White Noise @YouTubeMusic
  • Play music that I like
  • Play rock music radio
  • Show me songs from modern artists keeping classic blues alive
