Google is working to bring Gemini features to Gmail for Android. Previously, the company rolled out Gemini toggle to Gmail for Workspace users. Gmail users on Android will soon be able to have generative AI features powered by Google’s Gemini.

In an APK teardown, AndroidAuthority discovered Gemini AI features in the Gmail app for Android. The change is currently hidden behind flags, making it inaccessible to general users. However, the outlet shared a video showcasing how Gemini will work.

Version 2024.05.19.635289964 of Gmail for Android prepares the base for Gemini integration. Google may have been testing it internally to begin the deployment through a future Stable release. While the release timeline is uncertain, we might get it next month.

The Gemini toggle will be accessible before the Archive toggle in the Gmail header. The AI-derived feature will allow you to do more tasks such as asking for reply suggestions, changing the tone of a drafted response, and other non-email tasks.
