YouTube for Android, iOS gets redesigned Cast menu
Google rolling out a redesigned Cast menu to the YouTube app on Android and iOS. YouTube’s redesigned Cast menu is a floating bottom sheet with rounded corners. Previously, tapping the Cast icon opened the “Cast to” prompt at the center of the screen.
In the refreshed Cast menu, the “Select a device” menu doesn’t go edge-to-edge. Now, the user interface showcases thumbnails as well as voice and remote buttons in the corner. It’s now easy to switch across devices with the “Select different device.” section.
Some users complained about missing the Disconnect button, which was in the previous design. Previously, Disconnect would stop the Cast session and pause it on your phone. Now, tapping “This phone” moves playback to your phone, making ending playback a two-step process.
iOS availability is wider than Android’s, therefore, we recommend users to wait for a while. As soon as the stability of the new release is determined, Google will lift the restriction. We will keep you updated with the forthcoming developments about the Android ecosystem.
