Select Google Pixel phones can be used to unlock the latest Rivian EVs. Electrek reports that Rivian has fueled its latest eclectic vehicles with keyless entry (digital car key) powered by the smartphone.

Recently, Rivian announced next-gen models of its R1T and R1S. These vehicles are equipped with updated batteries, tweaked designs, improved drive units, and other significant improvements.

Apart from design and hardware, support for the digital car key feature is worth noting. The company notes that these “next-generation” vehicles will support car keys using iPhone, Apple Watch, and “select” Google Pixel devices.

The digital car key will be able to unlock and start the vehicle 9to5Google reports. The carmaker also highlighted that Apple and Google users can store their car keys in Apple Wallet and share them with friends and family.

Rivian hasn’t mentioned which devices are eligible and the accessibility of the feature. However, we speculate it to be available on UWB-powered Pixel phones with the Google Wallet application.
