Google Lens could evolve as Circle to Search for all devices
Google wants to equip 200 million devices with Circle to Search feature. The company has been working on Google Lens to expand the Circle to Search functionality to a large number of Android and iOS devices.
Recent findings suggest that Google Lens would bring Circle to Search feature to many devices. Samsung and Google were required to deploy this feature through OTA update, but the strategy will be changed for the upcoming release.
Google app’s Beta versions have been bringing clues related to Circle to Search functionality. There are several code changes and strings that indicate the preparations are underway in full fledge.
In previous APK teardowns, AndroidAuthority discovered:
- How some Circle to Search-like features could be activated on some specific types of content.
- Trigger Circle to Search-like search features on any screen.
- Activate Translate button and the Circle to Search animation.
- Circle to Search has an internal codename called “Omnient”
- The feature within Google Lens could be restricted to three-button navigation bars.
The company is preparing to fuel the Lens app with the Circle to Search feature. A major app update is expected to bring this unique way to search to millions of devices across platforms: Android, iOS, and ChromeOS.
