Google tried to block AI search features in Apple’s Safari browser. The company reportedly wanted to make iPhone users switch in favor of artificial intelligence tricks. However, Google’s attempt failed, and ultimately decided to end the discrimination.

TheInformation reports that Google initially blocked Apple users from getting the AI Overviews feature as it wanted users to make a switch from Safari to Chrome or other browsers. The company made this attempt to reduce its reliance on Apple and its Safari browser.

Earlier, Google launched the AI Overviews feature in Search. The company reportedly tried to initially block the Apple Safari browser from getting an AI-powered search feature. However, it had to greenlit the expansion to Apple users too.

The attempt also follows ending the need to pay hefty sums of money for being the default search on Safari. Earlier this year, it was reported that the search engine giant paid Apple as much as $20 billion to keep its status as the default search engine on Safari.
