Tesla has removed its most affordable Cybertruck option, which used to cost $60,990, leaving potential buyers with a significantly higher starting price. The next available model, an all-wheel drive (AWD) version, has jumped by $20,000 and now costs $99,990. This price increase means that the base cost of owning a Cybertruck is now $39,000 more than it was previously.
The more powerful version of the truck, known as the Cyberbeast, has also seen a price increase. Originally priced at $99,990, it now costs $119,990. This model offers more torque and a higher top speed compared to the standard AWD version.
Back in 2019, Tesla announced that the Cybertruck would start at $39,990, making the current prices a significant departure from the original promise.
On a positive note, Tesla has improved the delivery schedule for the Cybertruck. Customers who order the AWD model can expect delivery between August and September 2024, while the Cyberbeast is expected to be delivered between October and December 2024. Previously, orders were slated for delivery in 2025.
Tesla has faced several challenges recently, including two recalls of the Cybertruck this year alone. The first recall was due to issues with the accelerator pedals, and the second was related to faulty wiper blades. In addition to these setbacks, Tesla has been dealing with declining profits, federal investigations, lawsuits, and other recalls, contributing to a challenging period for the company.
