Circle to Search now offers easy cropping and sharing on Android
Key Points:
- Quick Sharing: Circle to Search now allows instant sharing of selected content without saving.
- Convenient Access: Share directly via Android’s system without needing to crop screenshots.
- Resolution Limitations: Best for larger images, as smaller ones may lose quality.
At the recent Made by Google 2024 event, Google introduced an update to its Circle to Search feature, making it easier to share content you’ve highlighted on your Android device. This new feature, which is now rolling out, allows users to quickly crop and share selected content without saving it first.
When you use Circle to Search, you can now see a “Share” button above the area you’ve selected. This button opens Android’s system sharing menu, making it simple to send what you’ve highlighted to others. This process is much faster compared to taking a screenshot, which usually requires cropping before sharing. Importantly, the content isn’t saved to your device unless you choose to do so.
You also have the option to upload your selected content to Google Photos or save it in Google Keep directly from the share menu. While this works well for larger images, it’s important to note that the resolution for smaller images might not be as high, so downloading the image directly might be a better option for those cases.
This enhancement was quietly announced alongside the introduction of Gemini Live in a blog post earlier this month.
