Google Pixel 9 may use AI to create to-do lists from calls
The Google Pixel 9 series, including the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, introduces an exclusive Call Notes feature in the Google Phone app. This tool, powered by Google’s Gemini Nano AI, automatically summarizes phone conversations and highlights important points. These summaries can be accessed later from your call logs. Now, it seems Google is enhancing this functionality to include AI-generated to-do lists.
Recent code found in version 156.0.702757710 of the Google Phone app points to a new feature called “Call To-Do List.” This appears to expand the existing Call Notes tool, with references to a codename “Fermat,” linked directly to Call Notes.
Key features hinted at in the code include:
- Call To-Do List Title: Displayed in the dropdown menu.
- Options to Copy and Share To-Dos: Making it easy to use actionable items across other apps or devices.
This new feature will likely use AI to analyze conversations and extract tasks or follow-ups discussed during the call. Importantly, since Call Notes processes data on the device, the Call To-Do List is expected to maintain the same privacy approach. This means all information will stay on your phone, ensuring your data is secure.
In addition to this, another update spotted in the Google Dialer app involves enhanced spam protection. A new Call Screen feature will now show how many spam calls were blocked each month, displayed as a notification in the call logs.
These updates underline Google’s push to make AI tools more practical and privacy-conscious for everyday tasks. If the Call To-Do List becomes available, it could be a game-changer for managing tasks directly from phone conversations.
