New look for Google Calendar on your phone
Google has updated how events show up in Gmail for both Android and iOS users, making it easier to see what’s happening at a glance.
In October, Gmail changed the way it shows summary cards to make them simpler and more useful. Now, they’ve updated the Google Calendar card just in time for holiday planning.
The new Purchase card, already in use, displays pictures, tracks your packages live, and gives you all the details about your order. You can easily track your package or see more about your order right from the card.
Now, when you get an email about an event like a dinner reservation or a doctor’s visit, the new Event card pops up. It clearly shows the day, date, and time of the event first, followed by the event name and a picture. If there’s a location or specific seats, that’s there too.
If you’ve got other events on your Google Calendar, this card will remind you about them too, showing when they end. There are handy buttons to do things like invite friends, view tickets, get directions, add the event to your calendar, or even call the place where the event is happening.
This update is available for everyone who uses Google Workspace, has a Google Workspace Individual subscription, or just a regular personal Google account, whether you’re using an Android or an iPhone.
Looking forward, Google plans to update cards for bills and travel too. Soon, these will show up when you search in Gmail and in a new “Happening soon” area right at the top of your inbox.
With these changes, keeping track of your plans and purchases through Gmail just got a whole lot easier.
