Apple TV app now on Android: Enjoy Apple TV+ and more
The Apple TV app has finally arrived on Android devices, making it easier for Android users to enjoy Apple TV+ and MLS Season Pass. You can now download the app from the Google Play Store for your Android phones and tablets.
With this app, you can log in using your existing Apple ID or create a new one right in the app. Subscribing is straightforward with Google Play billing, and the app supports Android devices running Android 10 or later.
The app brings familiar features like a “Continue Watching” list, the ability to download shows for offline viewing, and a search function. Your viewing progress will sync across devices, so you can switch from watching on your TV to your phone without losing your spot.
However, the app is focused solely on Apple TV+, MLS Season Pass, and MLB Friday Night Baseball. You won’t find iTunes Store purchases or rentals here; this app doesn’t connect to your existing library of bought or rented content.
The interface is clean with four main tabs on phones: Apple TV+, MLS, Downloads, and Search. On tablets, these options appear in a sidebar, making navigation smooth and user-friendly. Apple has tailored the app to fit Android’s look and feel, using native design elements like context menus, though some features like notifications or screen casting are not yet available in this version.
Previously, if you wanted to watch Apple’s original shows on an Android device, you were stuck with a less-than-ideal web app. Now, with this app, you can subscribe to Apple TV+ and MLS Season Pass directly on your device, simplifying the process.
This move signals Apple’s commitment to making Apple TV+ a major player, not just an addition to their ecosystem. If you’re new to Apple TV+, you can try it out for free for seven days directly through the Android app. Check out what’s available to stream and dive into the world of Apple’s exclusive content.
