YouTube Music boosts ‘Ask Music’ feature

YouTube Music is making its “Ask Music” feature, which uses AI to create custom radio stations, easier to spot in the Android app. In the past, the Home screen had a small card saying “Ask for music any way you like.” Now, there’s a new “Ask for music” section that stands out. It’s a carousel with sample ideas, placed right under the “Radios for you” section.

Unlike other carousels, this one shows suggestions like Deep-voice singers, New releases, Chillwave, British rock classics, Intense orchestral music, Deep cuts, Indie rock, Baroque pop, Minimalist electronic, and Morning routine. These options refresh daily, keeping things fresh.

When you tap the old card, it would start a radio or playlist after a short wait. The new carousel works the same way—tap a suggestion, and it plays. Google keeps the example prompts short and simple, though “Ask Music” can handle longer requests too.

There’s also a text box saying “Ask any way you like,” which opens a full-screen chat window and pulls up the keyboard. A microphone button lets you use your voice instead. This updated design makes it clearer what you can ask for and speeds up the process of picking music. It feels more user-friendly compared to the older setup.

Where It’s Available

As of December, “Ask Music” is live for Premium users in the US, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia on Android. YouTube Music says it’ll roll out to iOS and more countries “soon.”
This tweak shows how YouTube Music is working to make its AI tool more noticeable and simple to use, helping listeners find the perfect vibe faster.
