A sneak peek at the Play Store’s new AI avatar tool

Google is working on a cool new feature for the Play Store—an AI-powered tool that lets you design your avatar for your Play Games profile. We first noticed hints of this feature earlier this week, and now we’ve got a chance to see how it might look when it launches.

This AI avatar tool lets you customize your avatar using three simple choices: the character, the background, and the art style. Each choice comes with several options, so you can build an avatar that matches your gaming vibe. It’s not available in the latest Play Store beta (version 45.0.21) yet, but we got it working, and it’s pretty impressive—check out the video below to see it in action!

To start, just tap the pencil icon next to your profile picture. From there, you pick your favorite character, background, and art style. The tool then creates a few avatar options based on what you choose. If none of them feel right, you can hit the refresh button for new ones or mix things up by randomizing the settings with the buttons at the bottom. The tool looks almost finished, so it probably won’t be long before Google releases it to everyone. We’ll keep you posted as soon as it’s out for all to use!
