Gemini app on iPhone gets a fresh look and quick keyboard access
The Gemini app for iPhone recently got a makeover, following a similar update for Android in January. Now, when you open the app, the keyboard pops up right away, ready for you to type. The “Ask Gemini” box now stretches across the whole screen.
Google ditched the microphone and camera icons that used to sit in a little oval. Instead, you’ll find simple buttons for voice input and Gemini Live on the right side. Want to use the camera? Just tap the ‘plus’ menu, where you can also pick photos from your Gallery or Files. Another small change: the line above the text box is gone, making everything look cleaner.

Once you type something, the text box turns into a smooth, rounded shape. The big win here is the keyboard showing up as soon as you open the app—no extra taps are needed. This update comes with version 1.2025.0670001 of the Gemini app for iPhone. If you’ve updated but don’t see the changes, try closing the app completely and opening it again. The update also brings some cool extras, like:
