Google brings song search history to iOS, here’s how Android users can check it
Google’s Song Search feature is super handy, and now it comes with an easy way to look back at songs you’ve searched for. This update is live on the Google app for iOS, but anyone can peek at their song history online, no matter the device.
On iOS, when you open Song Search, you’ll spot a history button in the top-right corner. Tap it, and you’ll land on a “Recent Song Searches” page showing your last 10 searches. This covers songs found using Circle to Search and other Song Search moments too. Each entry shows the album cover (if there is one), the song title, the artist, and when you searched for it. A quick tap takes you to Google Search and more details about the song.
At the bottom of that page, there’s a “Show Full History” button. Click it, and you’ll head to myactivity.google.com, where a “Song Search” filter waits. This list can stretch back years—mine goes to 2017! It might’ve been there all along, quietly tracking. Recent searches even include the audio clip you used to find the song.
Want to jump straight in? Just go to myactivity.google.com/myactivity?product=17 and start exploring. This new shortcut is a cool touch, but there’s a small catch: you need to start a Song Search to see it, which adds a “Listened to unrecognized song” note in My Activity. It’d be nicer if Google added a direct link, maybe in the app’s Saved tab, to skip that step. Still, it’s a great way to revisit those tunes you couldn’t name before!
