Google launches Android 16 Beta 2.1 to fix Pixel problems
Google has just released Android 16 Beta 2.1 for Pixel phones and tablets, two weeks after the last update. This new version focuses on fixing issues that people testing the software have noticed. The update, labeled BP22.250124.010, comes with the February 2025 security patch. It works on many Pixel models, including the Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, Pixel Fold, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
Here’s what’s been improved:
- Fixed a problem that stopped devices from going into a power-saving mode called Doze.
- Smoothed out shaky animations when setting up live wallpapers.
- Stopped devices from restarting on their own unexpectedly.
- Tackled other small bugs affecting stability, internet connection, and overall performance.
For a Pixel 9, the update size is 11.60 MB. If your device is part of the Android Beta for Pixel program, you’ll get this update wirelessly (over-the-air, or OTA). Google also shared links for factory images and OTA files for each supported device, like the Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 8a, Pixel 7 series, Pixel 6 series, and more.
These files let users manually install the update if needed. This beta version shows Google’s effort to make Android 16 better before its final release. If you’re a tester, your Pixel should run smoother now with these fixes in place.
