Google promises a solution for Pixel’s now playing glitch

Google recently shared good news through its Issue Tracker: the Now Playing feature on Pixel devices, which has been acting up, is now sorted out. A fresh update bringing this fix is on its way soon. For the last few months, Pixel users have been frustrated with the Now Playing tool.

It’s supposed to automatically recognize songs playing nearby or let you search for tunes manually, but lately, it’s been hit or miss. Sometimes it wouldn’t pick up background music at all, and other times, the manual search just wouldn’t work. What’s causing these hiccups? That’s still a mystery.

In a comment posted on February 26 in the Issue Tracker discussion, Google said the problem is fixed, and the solution will arrive in a future update. The original conversation focused on issues with manual searches, but users also chimed in about the auto-detection troubles. So, it’s not fully clear if this fix covers both or just one part of the problem.

No exact date was given for when this update will drop, but there’s a bit of hope already. Some folks from 9to5Google have noticed that Now Playing seems to be working better lately, even before the official fix rolls out. It’s a small sign that things might be looking up for Pixel fans who love this handy music-spotting feature.
